Recently there have been some new additions in the tap shoe world. Capezio will be releasing their new TapSonic tap shoe in November. I previewed a demonstration of the Tapsonic and it looked and sounded great. Capezio chose to have the demonstration on a marley floor to highlight it’s ability to be heard. Since there are so many marley floors at competitions these days, you may want to check out a pair. I would think they would be really valuable if you are doing a tap solo.
They are keeping pictures of it under wraps, but I have a picture at the store on the bulletin board. Check it out. They feature a flashy silver aluminum heel that can be switched to a black aluminum heel or a steel heel, if you want a weighted shoe. I have ordered them to arrive as soon as they are available and already reserved mine.
Bloch has added a new slip-on tap shoe. IT IS NOT A SPLIT SOLE! That makes it nice for dancers who want a shank in their tap shoe. It is very sleek and has a good tap system on it. The upper is man-made but soft and it stretches. The best part is the price. They are selling for $50 a pair. Sizes 4-12 in Black or Tan.
Happy Tapping
